Children’s Ministry
Our mission is to assist the parent in their biblical goal of raising up children into godly adults who passionately pursue the glory of God.
our children’s ministry is:
The Scripture is the means God uses to make one “wise for salvation” (2 Timothy 3:15) and “complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:17). Because of this, for our ministry to children to succeed it must be grounded in, built upon, and dominated by the Word of God.
A commitment to the Scriptures should be evident in each area of ministry, not just the lesson times, with the goal being children raised up in reading the Word, believing the Word, loving the Word, and living the Word for the glory of God.
The children’s ministry is just that, a ministry of our church. It is not the church, nor is each individual family the church. Rather, the body of believers is the church. And while affirming the individual families as the place of primary evangelism and discipleship of each child, the ultimate goal is that the child would become part of the church family, a follower of Jesus Christ. This emphasis is increased as a child approaches adulthood, but at each age we desire to encourage the participation of the child in the corporate worship, equipping, and service of the church. We know these children will not remain in our children’s ministry for the rest of their life and the day they grow out of it is coming quickly. Therefore parents should view themselves as standing in support of the church’s ministry to children not in opposition.
When it comes to the responsibility of evangelizing and discipling children, the Scriptures clearly place parents as the primary facilitators (Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Ephesians 6:4). The role of children’s ministry is the supporting and equipping of parents to fulfill this God-given responsibility. We intend to assist and help parents; at times we also may be required to challenge and confront parents. This means that leaders in children’s ministry not only work with the children but also work with parents, it’s a family ministry.
Our children’s ministry is committed to reinforcing the Scripture’s primary role of the family in evangelism and discipleship of children.
We Value Four Things in Children’s Ministry
Because TRUTH connects children to God and TRUTH supports a biblical worldview.
Because TRANSFORMATION is the goal of teaching and TRANSFORMATION brings focus to the real issue.
Because AUTHORITY communicates God’s order and AUTHORITY communicates humility.
Because EACH CHILD is created in God’s image, EACH CHILD is loved for the sake of Christ, EACH STAGE of growth is unique, and EACH AGE GROUP is an opportunity to showcase the gospel.
