Pastor Ryan McCammak, Pastor of Preaching and Vision
God has been exceptionally kind to me. First of all, I am a sinner who has been saved by the rich mercy of God. I have been blessed with an amazing wife and seven delightful children. And I am privileged to serve as a minister of the gospel in a church that I deeply love.
By his grace, the Lord allowed me to be raised in a godly Christian home where I not only heard the gospel, but was drawn to the feet of the Savior at an early age. I grew up here on the east side of Joliet watching my mom and dad faithfully serve the Lord. God used my parent’s example in a tremendous way to lead me towards pastoral ministry.
After high school I went to Northland International University (which is not the end of the world, but you can see it from there) to pursue ministry training. I finished at Northland with my undergraduate degree, a master’s degree in biblical studies, and most importantly my wife Tricia. After college, Tricia and I served together in youth ministry for a few years, and I completed a master’s of divinity degree from Baptist Bible Seminary (Clarks Summit, PA).
Although my wife and I tremendously enjoyed working with young people, through a series of events God began to make it clear that He had a new course set for our lives. At the same time this was happening in our hearts a door was opening at Gospel Life Church (GLC), and within a short period of time the Lord brought our paths together and allowed me to shepherd this small congregation. I came to GLC (previously known as Calvary Baptist Church) in 2004, and the Lord has kindly grown us in depth and breadth over the last several years. It has been a joy to see God change me and His people as we have sought to faithfully follow His Word. I cannot express my gratitude to God enough for the rich lessons that I have learned through my brothers and sisters here at GLC.
During my time here the Lord has also enabled me to work towards a doctorate of ministry from Westminster Theological Seminary. I am currently writing my final project.
Being a part of this family of faith has been a treasure to me, and I pray that God will increasingly help us to passionately pursue his glory by digging into his Word, loving one another, and living out the gospel in a world that so desperately needs to see the Savior.
