Eph. 2:19 says, “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” The NLT version says it this way, “So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.”
As members of God’s family, we, who were far off, have been brought near (vs. 13) and can be a part of something so much bigger than us. Growing up, I had many misconceptions of family, and thought they were to serve me and meet my needs. Yet, that is not why God brought us into his family. Rather, according to Ephesians 2, we are brought into the family of God to be built together into a dwelling place for God by his Spirit (vs. 22).
One way we can be built together as a family is to attend our church’s Family Night. Our desire is to have an informal setting where we can eat together, play together, fellowship together and be with one another so that we can be be built together. This Sunday we hope our family at GLC can attend this special evening. We will provide pizza and activities for the night. Feel free to bring a side. We hope to see you all there!
